The Essential Do’s & Don’ts

The Essential Do’s & Don’ts

        Navigating the Airport in 2026:

The Essential Do’s & Don’ts

Getting through the airport doesn’t have to be the most stressful part of your vacation. YNARS Travel has Some good advice to relieve the traveling stress. With new security technologies and stricter identification laws now in effect as of February 2026, use this YNARS Travel guide to breeze through the terminal like a pro.

The "Do’s" of Modern Travel

DO Verify Your REAL ID Status: As of February 1, 2026, standard licenses are no longer enough for domestic flights. Ensure your ID has the "Star" symbol. If you don't have one, be prepared for the mandatory $45 TSA ConfirmID fee (and remember, it’s only valid for 10 days!).

DO Set Up a Digital ID: If your state supports it, add your ID to your Apple or Google Wallet. Over 250 U.S. airports now accept digital identity for faster "Touchless" clearance.

DO Embrace TSA Cares: If you or a loved one are traveling with a medical condition, disability, or need extra assistance, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours before your flight for a dedicated escort through security.

DO Arrive Earlier Than You Think: The 2026 "New Normal" for arrival is 3 hours for domestic and 4 hours for international flights. Between biometric kiosks and new luggage scanners, lines can be unpredictable.

DO Layer Your Electronics: Even with advanced CT scanners, "clutter" is the enemy. Pack your devices in a single, accessible layer so the X-ray can see through them clearly without a manual bag search.

The "Don’ts" of Modern Travel

DON’T Pack Lithium Batteries in Checked Bags: This is now strictly enforced for safety. All spare batteries and power banks must stay in your carry-on.

DON’T Guess on "Personal Item" Sizes: Airlines are cracking down. If your "personal item" (backpack/purse) doesn't fit completely under the seat—including wheels and handles—you may be hit with a $65+ gate-check fee.

DON’T Forget Your Physical Passport: Even if you use a Digital ID for security, you must have your physical passport for all international travel and as a backup for domestic flights.

DON’T Bring "Gray-Zone" Items: If you have to ask "Can I bring this?", the answer is probably "Leave it at home." Items like heavy metal jewelry or "smart" wearables can trigger advanced sensors and lead to extra screening.

DON’T Wait Until the Bin to Prep: While in line, start taking off your watch, emptying your pockets, and placing your phone inside your bag (not the bin!) to keep the line moving.

💡 Expert Advisor Pro-Tip

"The secret to a stress-free 2026 travel experience is biometric readiness. If you have the option to use a facial recognition lane, take it! It typically moves 30% faster than traditional document checks. Just remember to look directly at the camera and remove your sunglasses/hat beforehand."
